Synopsis

Jaehwan, the newly appointed Fortress Master, is faced with discontent from the other clans, so he proposes a challenge: anyone who can defeat him in a duel will take his position. Those who fail will be sent on a perilous Abyss Expedition, all within a one-month deadline. Meanwhile, the city observes a 'Soul Farewell Procession' for the dead, an event designed to erase the memory of the deceased after a week of remembrance. The chapter also introduces some key figures who are trying to understand and exploit the situation for their gain.
