Synopsis

Erwin grapples with the discrepancies between the game and the real world, observing how the mechanics of his abilities and character stats function differently. He learns about the city's brutal system of taxation and public executions for those who cannot pay. He then encounters Aynar, a fellow barbarian, at the library, who reveals her desire for knowledge, and together they plan to visit the shrine. The chapter ends with Erwin and his companion examining their loot and realizing they have earned significantly more than in the original game.
