Synopsis

After rescuing a man from a whirlpool, the group discovers he is Tunka, a member of a clan known for their physical prowess and opposition to magic. Cale reflects on Tunka's simplicity and how his presence is altering the established timeline of the novel, specifically a coming civil war. Meanwhile, Cale also learns about the strategic importance of the coastal village and plans a trip to a nearby island to explore a power source. He recognizes that the circumstances surrounding his life are beginning to change, and that he will need to adapt.
