Synopsis

The chapter opens with the realization that Roman Dmitri is too far to return in time as an attack on the Dmitri Dukedom begins, spearheaded by forces intending to crush them as an example to other kingdoms. Despite the speed and efficiency of the attack, the dukedom's defenses are surprisingly strong. A key character within the Dmitri forces, recognizing the threat and Roman's absence, steps up to protect the dukedom by issuing a vow to defend it and issuing commands to his allies.
