Synopsis

The chapter begins with the group moving out and setting up camp, with a seemingly gluttonous guide named Xiaoshi immediately consuming a lot of food. The others grow wary and openly express doubt about his skills, and the past guide's death is mentioned. Unusual animal footprints appear near the campsite, which are initially attributed to a bear and then to a wild boar, adding to the growing unease. Finally, the gluttonous guide decides to venture into the forest in search of more food, despite the warnings.
