Synopsis

The chapter opens with the Gyserians reflecting on their past attempt to reach the surface, which they abandoned due to fear, leading them back into servitude. They detail how they became soldiers after their master was killed. They share their disbelief of the surface and then explain the reasons for the great war between Gyser and the surface, and the motivations of Gyser's higher beings in releasing the captives, culminating in the gruesome scene of humans being devoured, which solidified their skepticism toward the surface and its potential worth. The chapter concludes with the introduction of the mercenary group 'The Failures,' led by Lee Pureum, and their continued doubts about the surface.
