Synopsis

This chapter introduces Eren Pendragon, the heir apparent, who is being escorted by the Royal Knights. Despite his heroic reputation, nobles throughout the empire are dissatisfied with him because of an event involving a 'white worm' in Sissuc. This has led to an alliance of powerful nobles, including the 'Bear Duke' and even the Great Dukes, actively conspiring against him, with various factions seemingly positioning themselves to exploit Eren's vulnerabilities and some actively cooperating to destroy him. Key figures of the empire's leadership, such as Duke Arangis and the Lindegor Duchy, are presented, adding complexity to Eren's precarious situation.
