Synopsis

The chapter begins with a sense of urgency as characters discuss the impending assassination of Duke Pendragon and the need to act. Following this, the narrative shifts to a group of soldiers who recount their encounter with a monster and discuss the appeal of serving a powerful house like the Pendragon's, however one soldier, Elkin, expresses disdain for serving any lord and the corrupt nature of the nobles. Later on, the soldiers discuss the history of the Valte household, which was once seen as benevolent and is now considered treacherous, leaving a sense of ambiguity about their true nature.
