Synopsis

The chapter begins with a verbal agreement for a young merchant to multiply the sect's funds tenfold, sealed with a written promise witnessed by others. The sect elder is ecstatic about their newfound wealth, envisioning sect improvements and expansion. However, when the elder confronts the merchant about her obligation, she's taken aback by the sect's dire financial situation, and attempts to bargain for better terms, realizing the task is far more difficult than she initially thought.
