Synopsis

The protagonist and his guard are attacked by monstrous beasts, including the Sundered Serpent, who are stronger than anticipated. The guard tries to sacrifice himself, but the protagonist refuses, deciding to fight. He unleashes a powerful demonic technique despite a weakening effect from the surrounding bamboo. He manages to escape, but the attack leaves him exhausted, confused, and discovering his sword is rusting, suggesting some strange environment effects.
