Synopsis

Horus and Urich have a conversation where Horus expresses liking his job and desire for land ownership. Urich, recognizing Horus's unique nature, agrees to teach him literacy in exchange for a larger share of future profits. The scene shifts to a conflict between two nobles, one who's champion is skilled in many things and one who’s champion, Mogdis, fails a demonstration which causes a falling out. The chapter ends with Urich and his partner discussing how they view the upcoming match and their disinterest of watching the popular gladiator Donovan fight.
